Cerelac
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils)
- 1/4 cup masoor dal (red lentils)
- 1/4 cup whole wheat grains
- 1/4 cup barley
- 1/4 cup oats
- 1/4 cup almonds (soaked and peeled)
- 1/4 cup cashews
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Wash the rice, moong dal, masoor dal, whole wheat, and barley thoroughly.
- Soak almonds in water overnight and peel the skin.
- Roasting:
- Dry roast rice, moong dal, masoor dal, whole wheat, and barley separately until they are lightly golden and emit a nutty aroma.
- Roast oats until they are slightly browned.
- Grinding:
- Grind all the roasted ingredients into a fine powder using a blender or grinder.
- Grind almonds and cashews separately into a fine powder.
- Mixing:
- In a bowl, combine the powdered rice, lentils, whole wheat, barley, and oats.
- Add the powdered almonds and cashews to the mixture.
- Storage:
- Store the homemade cerelac powder in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
How to Serve:
- Cooking:
- Take 2-3 tablespoons of the cerelac powder and mix it with water or milk to make a smooth paste.
- Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.
- Add Fruits:
- Once the cerelac is cooked, you can add mashed fruits like banana or apple sauce for added flavor and nutrition.
- Adjust Consistency:
- Adjust the consistency by adding more water or milk based on your baby's preference.
- Serve Warm:
- Allow the cerelac to cool to a suitable temperature before serving it to your baby.
