This is a very real Ayurvedic pattern, and you’re not alone
Many people don’t tolerate “anti-inflammatory” foods because the body’s digestion and nerves matter more than food labels.
Here’s the Ayurvedic way to understand and guide this
WHY “ANTI-INFLAMMATORY” FOODS CAN MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE
1⃣ Weak Agni (digestive fire)
In Ayurveda, even healthy food becomes toxic (Ama) if digestion is weak.
Chia seeds → heavy, absorb water, hard to digest
Kale → dry, rough, gas-forming
If Agni is low:
bloating, pain, fatigue, inflammation increase instead of reduce
2⃣ Vata dominance (VERY COMMON)
Most people with pain, fatigue, fibromyalgia, IBS, anxiety, menopause have high Vata.
Vata does not like:
Dry foods
Raw foods
Seeds
Rough greens
Chia + kale = classic Vata aggravators, even if “anti-inflammatory”
3⃣ Sensitive gut–nerve axis
Chronic inflammation conditions involve:
Hypersensitive nerves
Gut reacting strongly to small triggers
So “healthy” foods can overstimulate the system.
AYURVEDIC GUIDANCE (WHAT TO DO INSTEAD)
Choose digestive-friendly anti-inflammatory foods
Instead of chia & kale, try:
Cooked zucchini ( https://a.co/d/cJBDqM6)
Bottle gourd / ridge gourd
Carrots (well cooked)
Moong dal
Rice, oats, or khichdi ( https://a.co/d/73wGibl)
Ghee (½–1 tsp daily) ( https://a.co/d/cqe0qAh)
These calm inflammation without irritating Vata.
Fix digestion first (KEY STEP)
Before changing foods, support Agni:
Fresh ginger (2–3 thin slices before meals)
Cumin + coriander + fennel tea after meals
Eat warm, freshly cooked meals only
Anti-inflammatory herbs that are gentler than foods
Turmeric (¼–½ tsp, cooked in food, not raw)
Guduchi (Giloy) – ½ tsp powder once daily
Ashwagandha – calms inflammation via nervous system
Avoid for now
Raw salads
Seeds (chia, flax, pumpkin)
Kale, spinach (if sensitive)
Smoothies
Cold drinks
(You may tolerate these later, once digestion improves.)
IMPORTANT TRUTH
Ayurveda says:
“It is better to eat food that suits you than food that is praised.”
Inflammation reduces when the body feels safe, not when it’s forced.
Reassurance
Your body isn’t “broken.”
It’s asking for warmth, softness, and digestibility.
